Where were you 100 years ago? Odds are if you're reading this, you were nowhere, because you were not born or even conceived yet. You had no thoughts, feelings or behaviors. It wouldn't even be fair to say that you were. You were nothing; you weren't even an idea. The proper word to explain all this would be 'oblivion.'
Now, look at where you are now. You are no longer oblivious. You do have thoughts, feelings and behaviors. You are constantly worrying about what you eat, whether you can afford the rent, whether all of the hours you're putting in to working a job you can't even stand justifies your continued existence... and you constantly worry about where you're going after you die.
We as a human race have erected all sorts of mythologies concerning our inevitable deaths and our maker, which have assisted us in coping with the uncertainty and loneliness in dealing with our emotions and constantly wandering minds--which are our curse. Sometimes our mythologies have not turned out so well and have resulted in the mass murdering of hundreds of thousands or millions of innocents--and while we consider if our mythologies and reiterations of our maker have led us astray, we are also left to wonder where those murdered innocents 'went.'
If you are willing, I can put your mind at ease once and for all. All you have to do--and this is the greatest and most important challenge of life--is to acknowledge your oblivion and be comfortable with it. Of course, as we are emotional beings, some people will never be comfortable with this ultimate conclusion unless they are entirely free of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
I present you with two options for the ultimate solving of this dilemma:
A) If you wish to wait: one of these days, you will go back to sleep, and all of your worries shall fade. As you will experience much emotional and physical suffering as you wait, I do not advise you select this option.
B) If you take me up on my offer now, I will deliver oblivion to you. I ask for nothing in return, for I am a humanitarian.
Everything will be alright in the end, because the ultimate end for you, me and everybody else who is among the living or will ever live is to cease having thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Put your mind at ease. You will be nothing.
Rest in peace. You will be oblivious.
